Shasta Genealogical Society
The Shasta Genealogical Society was founded in 1968 by local genealogists with a passion for discovering their ancestry. We believe a coordinated effort to provide educational opportunities togenealogical research will result in a significant benefit to all. We welcome beginners as well as experienced genealogists and encourage them to share their knowledge and discoveries with others. We learn from and teach each other in our monthly meetings. Anyone with an interest in tracing their “roots” will find a home with us. Our Mission is to further research in genealogy and to assist all who desire to learn how to do genealogical research. Turtle Bay Exploration Park
Turtle Bay Exploration Park is home to a world renowned natural history, art and science museum, along with 300 acres of forest, botanical gardens, animal habitats, and more. The museum is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year after opening its doors in 2002, while the merger of four museums into one alliance (Alliance of Redding Museums) is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Known for bringing the world to Redding, its current exhibition features replicas of burial objects found in Tutankamun’s tomb. The McConnell Arboretum and Botanical Gardens features a Mediterranean climate display, a nursery, and children’s garden.
