September Monthly Program: Changing Tides, Changing Fortunes: Shasta Dam and It’s Impact on Shasta County.

Join us on Saturday September 17, 2022 at 1:30pm at the IOOF Building (1435 Butte Street, Redding, CA 96001) as Tami Corn, Project Coordination Specialist at the Bureau of Reclamation discusses the economic and social changes that came about with the building of the Shasta Dam. She will also expand on ‘River of Rock’ the conveyor belt that transported rock to the Dam and how it came about, how it was built and used, and what is left of it today. Entry is free for members and $5 for non-members. This program is in collaboration with our newest exhibit “Hidden Treasures of Shasta Lake: What Lies Beneath the Waters?” This exhibit explores the often-forgotten history that hides beneath Shasta Lake. Through this exhibit learn why Shasta Dam was built and how Shasta Lake changed the landscape
