Indigenous Peoples History Celebration

This year enjoy three special events for Indigenous Peoples History Celebration! This weekend of events includes a presentation of the documentary Tending the Wild. This film “shines light on the environment knowledge of indigenous peoples across California by exploring how they have actively shaped and tended the land for millennia, in the process developing a deep understanding of plant and animal life.”

A street fair featuring indigenous vendors will take place outside throughout the next day; followed by a special tasting of indigenous cuisine prepared by Bay area chef, Vince Medina.

This program is made possible thanks to the Shasta Historical Society‚Äôs community partners:  Redding Rancheria, Viva Downtown, Pit River Casino, Kwahn Corporation, Win River Casino, Mak-‘amham Contemporary Ohlone Cuisine, Turtle Bay, The McConnell Foundation, KKRN, Native Roots Network, and local indigenous groups.
